MARY ESTHER WALLACE With family members at her side Mary passed away September 3, 2011 at the Chemainus, BC Health Centre, after a courageous battle with cancer. Mary was born in Winnipeg, October 14, 1942. She was predeceased by her parents, William (Bill) and Mary; sister-in-law Florence; nephew Jeffrey, and companion Bill Wattis. She is survived by her husband Danny McCammon in Shawnigan Lake, BC; brother Frank in Tillsonburg, ON; brother Bill (Sonja) of Winnipeg and nieces and nephews in Manitoba, Ontario and Quebec. Although Mary had no children of her own, she was a loving and caring aunt and great-aunt. She attended school in Winnipeg. After working in Calgary, she returned to Winnipeg and was employed by the Municipal Hospitals at the foot of Morley Avenue until retirement. Mary then relocated to British Columbia. Mary was actively involved with the labour movement at the grass roots level for many years. Mary loved to cook and bake and won numerous prizes at local fairs in British Columbia. She loved to travel and was planning a trip to Scotland with Danny. A Memorial Service was held in Shawnigan Lake, BC September 10. There will be a Memorial Service in Winnipeg at the Winnipeg South Osborne Legion, Branch 252, located at 426 Osborne St., at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 22. The family wish to thank the staff of the Chemainus Health Centre for their care and compassion shown to Mary. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
