EVELYN FOSTAYCHUK (nee CHAMBERS) It is with sad hearts we announce the passing of Evelyn Fostaychuk (nee Chambers) of Sandy Lake on Wednesday, September 14, 2011. Evelyn is remembered fondly by her sisters and brothers, Doreen (Frank) Mazur, Fran (Don) McCarthy, Don (Sheila) Chambers of Sherwood Park, AB and Neil (Shelagh) Chambers of LeHave, NS, 11 nieces and nephews and 26 great-nieces and great-nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Johnny, in 1995. Evelyn was born July 17, 1928, in Winnipeg where she spent much of her life until retiring to Sandy Lake, MB with Johnny in 1994. Her legacy can be said to be that of love and caring towards all family members, especially her nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Auntie Evey embraced them all as though they were her children and grand-children. Auntie Evey was always interested in their lives and careers, listening intently as they shared their many adventures. She had boundless energy and enthusiasm and approached life with a positive attitude, never uttering a complaint despite the challenges presented with her health in later years. Evelyn, with a joyful heart, gave many years of service in various capacities to the Holy Ghost Ukrainian Catholic Church, with the Catholic Women's League and the Sandy Lake Museum. She loved volunteering at the Seniors Drop-in Centre, and in later years she was thrilled to participate in Community in Bloom. Her flowers were her pride and joy. The family wishes to express their sincere gratefulness and appreciation to Rose Rogasky, who was Evelyn's special angel. Through her generosity and kindness, Evelyn was able to remain in her beloved home. The Divine Liturgy will be held Tuesday, September 20 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Ghost Ukrainian Catholic Church, Sandy Lake. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Sandy Lake Museum or the Sandy Lake Communities in Bloom Fund.
