CONRADO (POY) GOMEZ June 29, 1947 - September 20, 2011 Conrado Poy' Gomez, age 64 years, of Winnipeg, Manitoba, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2011, surrounded by family and friends at St. Boniface Hospital. He was born on June 29, 1947 in San Juan, Rizal, Philippines, the son of late Francisco and Nancy Gomez. He was the oldest of six siblings. On September 13, 1970, he married Crisanta Corona and they recently celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary. He attended schools in Baguio City focusing on Political Science and History. Upon coming to Canada, Poy worked in the labour industries before changing careers to become an insurance salesman and then later as a REALTOR . As a well respected member and leader in the Filipino community, Poy volunteered many years of his life as a member of the executive councils for the Philippine Association of Manitoba, Philippine Amateur Golf Association of Manitoba, BIBAK Association of Manitoba, Timpuyog and Pangasinan Groups of Manitoba. He was also a member of various professional associations and in recent years enjoyed reconnecting with the Shriners, Masons and Demolay. He is survived by his wife Crisanta (Cris), his daughters Reyna Stevenson (Adam) of Whitby, ON and Almyra Gomez of Winnipeg, MB; his two grandchildren Dreden Gomez and Owen Stevenson; siblings Allan (Eneth), Manding (Ming), Patrick (Susan), Linda, and Danny (Sally), and his many nieces and nephews. The lamay/viewing will be held on Sunday and Monday, September 25 and 26, 2011 at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main Street between 6:00 p.m. and 12:00 Midnight. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, 748 Keewatin Street with a reception to follow at the church.
