THELMA ELIZABETH LEVERTON (nee MEDLEY) 1924 - 2011 Passed away in her 87th year at St. Boniface Hospital on Wednesday, September 21, 2011. Thelma was surrounded by the love of her family and continued to show off her wit and laughter until the end. She was a fun loving, tenacious woman who was loyal to the people she held dear to her. Thelma loved playing cards at the lake with her friends, catching more fish than anyone else in the boat regardless of where she sat and watching her grandchildren grow and mature to become responsible adults. Thelma was devoted to her husband Wilfred and together they took many trips by car travelling from coast to coast to coast, stopping to visit the many friends they had met during their 65 years together. She is survived by her loving family: daughter, Gayle (Charlotte), grandchildren, Colin, Chad and Cara (Michael), great-grandchildren, Bryce and Mina and sisters-in-law Hildy and Jan. Thelma was predeceased by her son Gary, sisters Dorothy and Margaret and nephew Jeffrey. Special thanks go out to the medical team of 4A South at St. Boniface Hospital who went the extra mile to ensure that Thelma's wishes were respected. A celebration of Thelma's life will take place on Monday, September 26, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame Avenue (across from Brookside Cemetery). In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB, R3L 0K6 or the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 9Z9.
