FERN ARVELLA MACMICHAEL (nee MAHONEY) At the St. Boniface Hospital on September 16, 2011, Fern MacMichael passed away at the age of 85 years. Fern was predeceased by her long-time partner John Liston. Fern leaves to cherish her memory her son Gordon MacMichael; granddaughters Kilmeny and Kirsty and her family in Windsor, Ontario including her brother Daniel and his wife Beth; nephew Todd; niece Ellen and Fern's extended family and friends in Manitoba, Ontario and Nova Scotia. Fern was born and raised in Windsor and took great pride in her work as a career homemaker as her family moved from Windsor to various locations in Ontario - Iron Bridge, Belleville, Brockville, Ottawa - and finally Winnipeg. Fern loved her granddaughters dearly, always buying them clothes and steadfastly providing meals and care for them in the mornings, at noon and after school. Cremation has taken place and a private graveside service will be held. The family wishes to extend special thanks to the Palliative Home Care team who were of such assistance to Fern and her family over the past year and a half and to the St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care Unit. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations may be made in Fern's memory to CancerCare Manitoba. For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then we will see face to face. Now I know only in part; then I will know fully, even as I have been fully known. (1 Corinthians 13:12) We love you, Nana.
