Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryOSCAR ARMOND MANGL August 19, 1916 - September 23, 2011 The day came, unexpectedly, but peacefully on Friday, September 23, 2011, Oscar passed away at the E. M. Crowe Memorial Hospital in Eriksdale, Manitoba. His memory will be cherished by his daughter, Karen Linde (Eric); his granddaughter Kristen (husband Craig); his grandson Craig (wife Rhonda); his great-grandchildren, Jordan and Miranda Brown, Milla and Magnus Linde; family friends, Tony Dyck (Alice); brother-in-law Svein Palsson, and numerous nieces and nephews. Oscar was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Runa; his sisters, Edith Jesse, Irma Miller, Hilda Clark and Frieda Clark; his sister-in-law Kay Palsson. Oscar was born and grew up on the family farm in Grahamdale, then farmed in Moosehorn and retired in Ashern. Oscar loved to talk about the farm, his Herford cattle, the good old days, playing baseball (his favourite sport), numerous fishing trips and all the big fish they caught. He was a great story teller, liked to tease and play practical jokes. He often spoke about traveling as a young man and the time he rode the rails across Canada, then later traveling with Runa after retirement to Europe, Alaska and various places in the U.S. His favourite trips were to Long Point, where he would plant a few potatoes and bring home a cedar tree. His strong work ethic continued after retirement, where he always kept busy with various carpentry projects. Later while living in Hilbre, he enjoyed gardening, driving his three wheeler and his passion for grass cutting that Hilbre will miss. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to all the nurses and staff at the Lundar Personal Care Home. He always told us it was a great hotel with really good food ! Oscar will be remembered with love and laughter. The family will be having a private graveside service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lakeshore Hospital Guild, c/o Julie Bergner, P. O. Box 489, Ashern, Manitoba R0C 0E0.
