ROBERT (BOB / BO) ALLEN WESTMACOTT November 2, 1944 - September 26, 2011 Unmistakable Spirit It is with deep sorrow Bob's family announces his sudden passing on Monday morning. He was predeceased by his father Robert (Bob) Westmacott. Left to cherish Bob's memory are his dear mother, Mary Rae (Westmacott), the love and protector of his life; brother Rod (Carolyn); half-sister Robin; stepmother Brigitte; dearly loved nephews Garett (Laurie) and Jason (Heather); and dearly loved great nephews Gavin, Brandon, Aiden and Rilyn. Born in Winnipeg in 1944, Bob was the first surviving RH-factor baby thanks to Dr. Chown. He grew up and lived his life in West Kildonan, and worked for a time in the family glass business on Main Street. Bob was a true-spiritied country boy who rodeoed in his younger days, and loved to fish, hunt, and spend his summers at the cottage at Lac Lu, Ontario. One of Bob's most endearing traits was his direct and honest way of connecting with people. Although Bob had many challenges throughout his life due to depression, he still maintained a zest for life and a deep curiosity about his place therein, with whom he challenged many. In Bob's later years he suffered from severe emphysema. He faced his illness with a positive outlook and unyielding strength. Despite all his challenges, he never gave up hope of recovering. In the last three years of his life he lived at Deer Lodge Centre (DLC), where he made many cherished friends with both residents and staff and others who came to know him. As difficult as it is to let him go, we know his suffering has ended, and he is now at peace in Heaven. The family would like to thank all the wonderful and caring staff at DLC, especially his counsellor Dawn, for their support, care patience and understanding of Bob and his unmistakable spirit. In keeping with Bob's wishes, a private family memorial service has been held at DLC. Interment to follow with immediate family on Tuesday, October 3, 2011 at Glen Eden Memorial cemetery. If so desired, a donation may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society or Deer Lodge Centre Foundation or a charity of choice. Just let me live my life as I've begun And give me work that's open to the sky; Make me a pardner of the wind and sun, And I won't ask a life that's soft or high. Let me be easy on the man that's down; Let me be square and generous with all. I'm careless sometimes Lord, when I'm in town, But never let em say I'm mean or small! Make me as big and open as the plains, As honest as the hoss between my knees, Clean as the wind that blows behind the rains, Free as the hawk that circles down the breeze! Forever loved and always in our hearts

I was so sorry to read about Robert when I saw his Mother's obituary in the Winnipeg Free Press. My Great Aunt was Mary Westmacott Bell and she married my Great Uncle George Bell, they lived on a beautiful farm near Angusville, Manitoba and I met Robert one summer when him and Rod came to stay with their Aunt and Uncle. We had a wonderful time playing in the barn and the beautiful farm and countryside. Rest in Peace Robert. Linda - Posted by: Linda Marie Zuzanski (Ferguson) (Very distant cousin) on: Jan 18, 2012
