Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHECTOR MUNRO MCDIARMID Hector Munro McDiarmid passed peacefully into the arms of His Lord on Monday, September 26, 2011 at Victoria Hospital, Winnipeg at age 90. Born December 2, 1920 in Winnipeg, only child of Marion and James McDiarmid. He attended Norberry School . As a young man, he worked for CNR. He was with the T. Eaton Company for 24 and a half years and had his own business for another 33. He spent four years with the Royal Canadian Ordnance Corps serving in England, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany landing at Juno Beach six days after D-Day. He was a decorated veteran of the Second World War being awarded a special medal from Holland. He was a very proud Canadian and always a gentleman. He was a member of Calvary Temple for 70 years. He loved hockey and baseball and spent much of the last few years watching his favourite teams. He followed politics avidly and voiced his opinion confidently. Also, his love of music and pets continued throughout his life. He always had a joke, eh? He is survived by his wife, Beverley, son, Jim (Gayle) grandchildren Robin (Blake) Jamie and Derek, and great-grandchildren, Katie, Russell and Allison. Daughter, SueAnn McClintock (Richard) and grandchildren Andrea and Daniel. His stepson Daryl Newis (Diane) and grandson Bryden. Always In Our Hearts Service will be held Tuesday, October 4 at Buntain Chapel, Calvary Temple, 400 Hargrave at 2:00 p.m. with a private interment to follow.
