Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryOLGA CHORNEY (nee BERES) June 21, 1925 September 30, 2011 Passed away peacefully with family at her side. Born near Prince Albert, SK, her early years of marriage were spent in Atikokan, ON. Later the family moved to Winnipeg, where she resided until her passing. Olga's many interests included bowling, square dancing, gardening and travel. She was an excellent cook and a talented seamstress. Olga was a founding member of the Winnipeg Genealogical Society, and a board member of the local Canadian Hard of Hearing Association, for which she started a Meniere's Support Group. Olga was a lifelong learner and devoted mother and grandmother who met the many challenges in her life with strength and resilience. Olga was predeceased by her parents, Elizabeth and Charles Beres, her sisters Emma Knox and Clara Bourassa, her brother Alidar Beres, and her husband Nick Chorney. She is survived by her daughters Karen Bell (Mike), Debra Chorney, and Valerie Chorney; and her grandchildren Jennifer, Douglas, Alan and Lena. The family thanks Kildonan Personal Care Centre for their care. A Celebration of Olga's life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thurs., October 6, 2011, at Transcona Memorial United Church, 209 Yale Ave. W. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Winnipeg Harvest.
