ARTHUR DIXON DOAK JR. 1930 - 2011 It is with deep regret and sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Arthur on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at the Grace Hospital, with family by his bedside, at the age of 81 years. Left to cherish Arthur's memory is his wife Joyce, of 58 years of marriage; sons Arthur III, Brad (Nancy), Harry (Sharon), Fred (Kathy); grandchildren Darren, Rheanne and Serena; as well as extended family. Arthur was born in Thunder Bay, Ontario where he was a drummer in the Fort William Pipe Band. He moved to the Westwood area of Winnipeg in 1961. Arthur worked for the Toronto Dominion Bank for 40 years. When his children were younger, Art would help out at the local community club (Lincoln) as Treasurer while his children were involved in community activities. He enjoyed playing the piano and many times would entertain his friends and neighbours in his younger days. He was an avid golfer and curler. Arthur enjoyed playing bridge, Sunday afternoon cribbage games, and his monthly poker games with the Bank Boys. On Thursday, October 6, 2011 the Funeral Service for Arthur will be held at 2:00 p.m. in the Kirkfield Park United Church, 472 Kirkfield Street. The family wishes to express their appreciation and gratitude to the staff on 5 South of the Grace Hospital for their exceptional care. In lieu of flowers, donations in Arthur's memory may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9 or The Salvation Army, 500 - 55 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 1L8.

I, a former TD employee in the 50s and 60s, had my share of good times (and golf/card game losses) with Art and enjoyed our relationship very much. I am sorry to hear of your loss. Bill Osadchuk - Posted by: Bill Osadchuk (Family) on: Oct 10, 2011
