KATHERINE SOCHASKY Katherine Sochasky passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at 86 years of age. Katherine was predeceased by her husband Peter in 2009. Beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she will be deeply missed by her daughter Irene (Leonard) and son Bob (Cathy), grandchildren Grant, Jennifer, Samantha and Eric and great-granddaughter Chloe. Katherine was born in Buchach, Ukraine on December 10, 1924. She arrived in Canada with her husband and daughter in 1949 and eventually settled in Winnipeg. She then gave birth to her son Bob in December, 1950. She worked at Perths Cleaners and Manitoba Sausage while raising her family. Katherine enjoyed cooking for her family and always cherished family dinners of perogies, holopchi and apple pie from Peter's trees. She was fortunate to visit her homeland in 1993 with her husband and son. The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to the Convalescent Nursing Home for their care and compassion during her brief stay there. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 7 at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Sts. Vladimir and Olga, 115 McGregor St. with Rt. Rev. Msgr. Mitrat M. Buyachok officiating. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Katherine's memory to the Arthritis Society, 105 - 386 Broadway, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3C 3R6.
