ELAINE MANKO (nee BROADLEY) On Saturday, October 1, 2011 Elaine died at the Charleswood Care Centre, at the age of 89 years. Remaining to forever cherish Elaine's memory are her daughter, Lorraine of British Columbia; niece and goddaughter, Jacqueline Mirwaldt (Kuno) of Fort Wayne, Indiana; niece, Geraldine Haufschild of Winnipeg; nephews, Dennis Quinlivan and Alan Wall as well as many great-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Agnes and Peter Broadley; husband, Thomas; sisters, Agnes, Mary, Betty, Ann; brothers, Peter and John. Elaine was born in Winnipeg on August 7, 1922. She graduated from St. Johns High. Her first job was at Weston's Bakery in Winnipeg. Elaine moved to Bowmanville, Ontario for a short time and worked at A P Foods but returned to Winnipeg where she worked and eventually retired from Safeway. She was a very outspoken, feisty and quick witted person who loved to watch her garden and flowers grow, knit, play cribbage, cook, bake and made the best ever shortbread. In compliance with Elaine's wishes there will be no formal Funeral Service. In lieu of flowers, donations in Elaine's memory may be made to a charity of one's choice.
