Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryKIRK KLAYTON HANSON March 26, 1956 October 3, 2011 Unexpectedly and after a brave fight, Kirk reluctantly left his beloved family and friends on October 3, 2011 at the Health Sciences Centre. Kirk was predeceased by his mother Yvette and father Jack . Kirk will be sadly missed by his wife Barb, children Kelly (Kathy), Melanie (David Lysack), Randy, Cory (Jen), and his granddaughters Annie and Mollie. Also survived by brothers Bill (Eileen), Marc, sister Kim (Conrad Starkell), mother-in-law Lois Hayhurst, brothers-in-law Cam Bayne (Colleen), Don, David, sisters-in-law Heather Bayne (Brad Laszchuk), Sandra (Scott Nelson) as well as many nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. Kirk spent most of his life working in the transportation industry where he was a dedicated, punctual and overall hard working individual. Although he had quite the work ethic, he never neglected his family or friends. He was the type of man that would drop everything to help someone in need. Second to friends and family in his life was his passion for sports. He particularly loved football and horseracing and would often spend hours fine-tuning his football pool picks or handicapping the racing form in order to place bets at Assiniboia Downs. At The Downs he came to own three horses in his lifetime and some of his greatest highs were the wins experienced with Super Duper Me alongside friends and family in the winner's circle. Kirk was fortunate enough to spend the last nine years of his life at home. He spent countless hours at the dog park, playing horse shoes, shuffleboard, dancing, cooking and partaking in sporting events. Kirk's pride and joy were his beloved granddaughters and was known to them as Do-da or the Dude-ster . Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at the Charleswood United Church, 4820 Roblin Blvd. Reception to follow at Assiniboia Downs. His granddaughter Mollie was recently diagnosed with an excessive case of Vitiligo and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Vitiligo Foundation, PO Box 23226, Cincinnati, OH, 45223.
