EMILIE (EMILY) DELGATY 1916 - 2011 Peacefully, on Saturday, October 1, 2011, Emily Delgaty (nee Rathgeber) passed away at Beacon Hill Lodge in Winnipeg at the age of 94. She will be sadly missed by her brother William Rathgeber of Edmonton, Alberta; brother-in-law Robert Delgaty (June) of Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and friends. Emily was predeceased by her loving husband, Herbert Delgaty; her parents John and Julianna (nee Webber) Rathgeber; four brothers, John, Philip, Michael and Louie; and four sisters, Edith, Louise, Elizabeth and Tillie. Emily was born near Goodeve, Saskatchewan, on November 12, 1916, and grew up on the family farm there. Later, she moved to Regina, where she worked for the government. Eventually, Emily came to Winnipeg, where in 1956 she met the love of her life, Herbert. They had a long and happy marriage from 1957 until January, 2011, when Herbert passed away just days before their 54th anniversary. They lived for most of those years in their home on Melrose Ave. W. in Transcona. The family would like to thank the staff at Beacon Hill Lodge for their compassion and caring of Emily over the past six years. A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 14, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. in the Wheeler Funeral Chapel, 211 Regent Ave. W. Interment will follow at the Transcona Cemetery.
