MARGARET CHRISTINA MAKI (nee FLECK) Peacefully Margaret passed away on Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at the Grace Hospice in Winnipeg. Margaret was the youngest daughter of William and Mary Fleck, and was born on December 26, 1931 in the family home in Gladstone. Margaret received her education in Gladstone and entered the W.G.H School of Nursing, graduating with the class of 1954. She became Head Nurse at Women's Centre in General Surgery in 1956, then Gynecology where she stayed until retirement in 1982. In 1984 she returned part-time to Rehab and Respiratory at Health Sciences Centre where she worked for five years. She married Lauri Maki in 1957 and enjoyed spending many winter vacations in Brownsville, Texas, where they had many friends. They enjoyed cruises to the Baltic, Panama Canal and Caribbean, as well as their flights to England, Ireland and Finland to visit relatives. She was predeceased by her parents William and Mary; husband Lauri; brother Jim; sisters Marie (Bill) Chandler and Jean (Don) Cross. She is survived by nieces; nephews and relatives in England and Northern Ireland. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held at Silver Heights United Church (date to be announced). Graveside Service will take place at the Gladstone Cemetery (date to be announced). Special thanks to the staff at the Grace Hospice.   • Just wanted to say that Mrs Maki and her husband were always very nice and I have many good memories of me going to their house as a young kid and they always supporting me and my activities at school when I was a youngster... very nice couple.... always will remember Ms Maki coming around and chatting when walking her dog.. she will be missed.. - Posted by: Stuart family (neighbors) on: Oct 14, 2012
