Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBENJAMIN FRANKLIN (FRANK) MASSEY With profound sadness, the family announces the peaceful passing of Benjamin Franklin (Frank) Massey, beloved husband of Fern Massey, on October 5, 2011, at the Selkirk Betel Home. Frank was born in Selkirk, MB, December 17, 1921. He is survived by his beloved wife Fern (Truthwaite); daughter Susan (Gerry) Coneybeare, Hantsport, NS, son Robin (Laurie) Massey, Selkirk, MB and daughter Sandra Massey of Winnipeg, MB; grandchildren, Chantel, Anastasia (Stasi), Brennan Massey, Allan and John Coneybeare; sisters, Kathleen (Kaye) Dewar and Doreen Massey; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Loutit and Dorothy Massey and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Ron and Lorna Truthwaite. Frank was predeceased by his parents, Ben and Kate Massey; brothers, Jack, Harold and Bert; sisters-in-law, Maud and Peggy Massey, Connie (Victor)Truthwaite, Olive (Truthwaite) Post, and his brothers-in-law, Stewart Dewar and Victor Truthwaite. Frank joined the R.C.A.F. and served as an Aero Engine Mechanic during the war years. Following that he became a Power Engineer with the Government of Manitoba, latterly as Chief Engineer at Red River College. Frank's passion was farming where he enjoyed being outdoors. He also liked old-time music, taking 8mm movies and working on anything mechanical. Prayers will take place in the Gilbart Funeral Home at 7:00 p.m on Tuesday, October 11, 2011. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at 11:00 a.m in the Christ Church, 227 McLean Ave., Selkirk, MB with Reverend Deborah Vitt officiating. Interment will follow in the Little Britain United Churchyard Cemetery. We would like to thank the pallbearers, Greg Dewar, Randy Dewar, Gordy Loutit, Willie Loutit, Brennan Massey, Stephen Purvis. The family would like to also extend heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Betel Home, where Frank resided for the past three years.
