SHIRLEY JEAN BISHOFF (nee BURKE) May 5, 1926 - September 30, 2011 We are sad to announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, sister Shirley. She passed away in the Palliative Care Unit of Thompson Hospital with her family by her side. Predeceased by mother Emma and father George Burke as well as seven siblings: Gladys, Edward, June, Emma, Priscilla, Adella and Stuart. She is survived by sister Bernice ZMurray of Ottawa, Children: son Kenneth Bishoff of Vancouver, daughter Donna Hoeppner (Tim) and grandchildren: Donovan (Melissa), Lindsay (Eric), Bonny and Murray (Carmel), daughter Sandy Consigleo and grandchildren Damian, Caleb and Tuscany of BC. She is also survived by her ex-husband Albert Bishoff. Shirley had a caring heart and loved her family very much, especially her grandchildren. She worked for Unemployment Insurance in Winnipeg starting at a very young age until she married and stayed home and raised her family. In 1975, she moved to Calgary until 1987 where she worked for Dome Petroleum Mesa Petroleum. Upon returning to Winnipeg, she worked for Veteran Affairs until retirement. She spent a lot of time in Cross Lake with Donna and Tim and children. She also spent time in BC with Sandy and her children. She was a very vibrant person who had a great sense of humour and always spoke her mind. The family wants to thank the staff of GD4 of the Health Science Centre, especially Margaret the Health Care Worker who was especially loving and kind. Also, we thank Kaio for having a sympathetic ear. We also wish to thank Aboriginal Services of Health Sciences Centre and those who helped arrange Shirley's transport to Thompson so she could be closer to her family. We also thank the staff of Thompson General Hospital who provided excellent care. Thanks also goes out to her friends Sherry Hinchliffe, Brad York and Bernice Zillman of Winnipeg. We also thank the many friends and family of Cross Lake and Thompson who came by to provide prayer and support to our mother. Also much thanks to Cross Lake Education Authority, the staff and students of Mikisew, the people of Cross Lake who held a wake at Tim and Donna's home on October 5. They have provided so much love and support and continue to do so. Thanks go to Northland Funeral Services in Thompson. Shirley was cremated and will be buried at Brookside Cemetery beside her mother Emma. A come and go tea for Shirley will be announced at a later date, which will be held at 505 Munroe, where Shirley resided. If anyone wants to get in touch, email: donnah936@yahoo.ca
