Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGEORGE GRAHAM KLASSEN July 23, 1955 - October 5, 2011 It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of George Klassen (Big Mac) at the age of 56. George is predeceased by his parents Gerhard and Betty; as well as his dear Aunt Helen. He leaves behind the love of his life, Florence Diaz and his pride and joys: sons Jason (Kirsten) and Darren. Also near and dear to him, special sister Angie Prefontaine (Grant Bannatyne) and his work family at CG Power Systems. George was born and raised in Winnipeg with younger siblings Derrick, Scott and Beth. Growing up he enjoyed playing hockey, dirt biking and boxing. After graduating from Vincent Massey High School, George began his 36 year career at Federal Pioneer (now CG). He became an expert in his field, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues around. George loved his boys. As they grew, he enjoyed the times when he could take them camping, roller blading and wind surfing. He was a loyal hockey dad, never missing a single practice or game. More recently, his passion turned to his Indian Motorcycle; and he looked forward to travelling with Florence. Special thanks to the Winnipeg Fire and Paramedics Services, and to the Doctors, Nurses and Staff at the Seven Oaks Emergency Department. Funeral services will be held at Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway, Friday, October 14, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. Private interment to follow at Thomson In the Park . In lieu of flowers, donations in George's name can be made to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation.
