FRANK CECHVALA Peacefully and surrounded by family with our deepest love we announce the death of Frank Cechvala on Sunday, October 9, 2011 at the St. Boniface Hospital. Frank will be lovingly remembered by his wife Diane, daughters Linda (Doug), Susan (Richard), Cheryl (Bob), his grandchildren Sandy (Jason), Dallas (Janine), Jeff, Kandis, Shelley (Russ), Paul (Nikki) and great-grandchildren Rowan, Paige, Georgia, Gage, Maya and Cadence. He is also survived by his brother John (Emily), his sisters Ethel, Mary (Marcel), brother-in-law Robert, sisters-in-law Edna, and Jeanine (Gabby), and many nephews and nieces. Frank was born in 1927 to Michael and Elizabeth in Kortyne, Czechoslovakia and immigrated to Canada with his family in 1939. Dad retired from C.N.R. in 1994. He was a member of the St. John First Aid Brigade for many years. He loved to putter in his garden at home and at his cabin in Grand Beach. Dad was an avid golfer and curler. After retiring he took great pleasure in meeting his buddies for coffee every morning. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. with viewing from 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 13, 2011 at Christ The King Church, 847 St. Mary's Road. Pallbearers will be Frank's six grandchildren. A private family interment will take place at a later date in Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. The family would like to thank all of the wonderful staff of the St. Boniface Palliative Care Unit for their loving care and support. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba.
