Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPERCY VINSKY It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our Husband, Dad, Nampa, Grandpa on October 8, 2011. Percy was born on November 17, 1928 to Oscar and Sarah Vinsky in Winnipeg. Dad had four siblings, Morris, Irvine, Esther and Norman who had all predeceased him. Left to cherish Dad's memories are his wife Marjorie, sons Michael and Robert (Debbie), grandchildren Lyndon, Ashley and Derick, as well as many family and friends. Dad lived his whole life in North Winnipeg and graduated from St. Johns High School in 1945. Dad's greatest interest in life was music, specifically Jazz music. His instrument of choice was the trombone and he played with many respected musicians throughout the city. At one time lead his own band, The Percy Vinsky Orchestra and played many functions throughout the city and province. Even after dad had claimed to have lost his lip he would still love to listen to the old Jazz standards and Big Band Classics. Dad started his work career with Rice Sportswear where he met his future bride Marjorie and soon moved over to London Life Insurance where he had a lengthy, successful career in sales. Dad cherished his friends at London Life and enjoyed the fishing trips and outings with the gang. Dad's biggest passion in life was his family! Camping, birthdays and holidays together was what mattered to him the most. A hockey Dad if there ever was one, always there for his sons' early morning practices and present on the many road trips in and out of Canada. You could not keep him away from the games and practices when his boys were playing and once the grandchildren started playing sports he always made time for their events. Dad also was an athlete himself. He played hockey, football and curled later in life. Unfortunately dad was taken from us unexpectedly. After a brief stay at Health Sciences Centre in the Palliative Care Unit he succumbed to his illness. Prior to that he was healthy and able to tend to his tomato plants and massage his green thumb. If Dad couldn't make it grow, it could not be grown. We would like to thank all the nurses and doctors at Health Sciences Centre for their compassion and care. Even when Dad was at his weakest he made sure to say Hello and thank the nurses and doctors who helped him. A testament to the man he was. As per Dad's wishes a private family service has taken place that celebrated this wonderful man's life.
