ELLA MARIA NEUFELD December 11, 1925 - October 9, 2011 It is with deepest regret that we announce the peaceful, albeit unexpected, passing of our dearest Ella, aged 85, on Sunday, October 9, 2011 after a mercifully brief bout with cancer at Concordia Hospital. Ella was predeceased by her parents and three siblings: Rosa, Annie, and half-sister Hedwig. Left to keep her memory alive are the two primary loves of her life: Alex, devoted husband of 60 years, and her loving son, Henry. Dad and I would like to personally extend our heartfelt appreciation to everyone of the Hospital's staff in any way connected to our beloved Ella's case, both for their professionalism and, mainly, given the circumstances, their compassion. Particular thanks to Valerie for her help and invaluable insight. To the many friends and family who dropped by to lend us their comfort and encouragement during our abbreviated hospital ordeal, and, indeed, to those who continue to support us throughout the longer, even more difficult aftermath, words are woefully inadequate to express the gratitude we feel. Special mention to Helga and Rodney U., and to Anna D., Alice P., and Frank N. for going above and beyond. Blessings to you all. For all those who would like to attend, an intimate celebration of Ella's life will be held at Friends Funeral Service, 2146 Main St. on Saturday, October 15 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted on site, Saturday, the proceeds directed towards Mennonite Central Committee humanitarian efforts in Africa.
