Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEILEEN BESSIE MCKINNON Eileen died on October 9, 2011 at Poseidon Care Centre where she had lived for several years. Eileen was baptized at St. Alban's Anglican Church, but spent most of her life attending St. Margaret's Anglican Church near her family's residence on Canora Street in the Wolseley area. At the time of her death she was the longest attending member of St. Margaret's Church; she attended St. Margaret's faithfully until a few weeks before her death. Eileen was a caregiver. She cared for both parents, as well as her invalid brother for many years. Eileen served as caretaker of the church for many years. She is survived by three nieces Caryl McKinnon Skolski, Vicki McKinnon Gouchey and Jean McKinnon. She was predeceased by one nephew Bruce McKinnon. Eileen was a social person; her social activities revolved around the church. She attended the Anglican Church Women, sang in the choir, and supported other church members' special events. She enjoyed going out for dinner with friends; she had a fantastic appetite, and relished special events. Eileen also had some special neighbour friends on Canora Street as well the Fort Rouge Leisure Centre where she sang. Eileen remained mentally active throughout her life; she enjoyed doing JUMBLE puzzles weekly until her 95th year. In her final years at Poseidon Care Centre, she became fond of staff members, and they became fond of her. A special thanks to the caregivers who supported her. Special highlights for Eileen were annual birthday parties which she hosted, attended by many friends from church. In spite of increasing limitations, she remained bright and cheerful. She was always glad to see friends, and welcome visitors with joy. She seemed to grow more positive, loving and upbeat over the years. When asked how she was, she often replied with an enthusiastic I'm Super!'. A favourite saying was you can say that again . At the end of a visit she would always request the Lord's Prayer. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Margaret's Anglican Church, 120 Ethelbert Street at Westminster Avenue.
