KATHLEEN MAY HARCUS (NANNY) Peacefully, on October 12, 2011, at the age of 93, mom passed away with her family by her side. May was born on September 5, 1918 in Hodgson, MB. May was predeceased by her husband Lawrence, who was the love of her life; parents Louisa and Percival Cook, and all of her brothers and sisters. Left to mourn her passing are her daughters Louise (Bill Long), Lorraine (Dennis Stasiuk), Lee Bell (Ron Kupchik), April (Harvey Favell); son Reid (Deb); 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Lucille Cook and Bernice Cook, numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. May and Lawrence were married on June 15, 1938 and were together for 56 years. May was affectionately known as Nanny to her family and all who met her. Mom worked hard at home raising her family and also worked outside her home as well. She was an avid gardener and an excellent cook. Mom moved to Tudor House in 2005 and remained there until her passing. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Tudor House and Doctors Demsas and Lindenschmidt. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of May's life will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2011, at 11:30 a.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, 309 Eveline St., Selkirk, MB. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Tudor House Personal Care Home in Selkirk.
