SANDRA JUDY SWAN (nee ALLAIRE) It is with a sense of grief and relief that we announce the passing of our very best friend, wife and mother, Sandye. At 8:00 p.m. of the 9th day of the 10th month of the 11th year (8/9/10/11) Sandye's struggle with cancer came to an end. (She knew I was terrible at remembering dates). She would have been 60 this year and we would have been married for 35 years. Left to forever cherish Sandye's memory is her mother, Ina Allaire; husband Hugh; children Tyler, Lauren and Jillian; brother Jerry and his companion Jan Rice; and granddaughter Nevaeh. She was predeceased by her father Gaston Butch Allaire. The list of her friends from all over the world is extensive and it was the outpouring of their collective love and prayers that gave Sandye and our family the strength we needed to deal with this terrible disease. Although Sandye had some very close lifelong friends it was towards the end and while she was at home she particularly enjoyed the Friday night visit with the crowd at the RT, with special mention to Cary, Dale, Susan, Dianne and especially George. Sandye started as a flight attendant 40 years ago this month and when she had to stop she had become a Flight Director. She loved her job and her colleagues and her time away only made her time at home more special. Sandye's passion was her support for Dreams Take Flight and a big thank you goes out to that group for allowing her to go even when she was sick. Sandye had many hobbies but the most important and productive one was raising her children (and husband!). Through thick and thin she never wavered from her love and support for us all. In compliance with Sandye's wishes there will be no Funeral Service. Cremation has already taken place and her ashes will be spread in Barbados, in North Vancouver and buried beside her father where Father Gil Gariepy will say a few words with immediate family. A Celebration of Sandye's Life will be held in the next month at a place and date to be announced. The cost of admittance will be your favorite stories of Sandye - please provide them in writing so that the children and grandchildren can have them as a keepsake. We would respectfully decline flowers but would ask that you consider a donation to Dreams Take Flight, 355 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB, R3B 2C3. When you were born, you cried and the world rejoiced; live your life so that when you die, the world cries and you rejoice . Sandye, you were my very best friend and I do not know what I will do without you. You are buried with your Angel and know that I will be always with you. Hugh

Condolences & Memories (6 entries)

  • I remember Sandye as an amazing person, she exuded life, she brightened up any space, her smile, her way with people, at work always in command of the situation always in control, her charm, her beauty inside and out. Her sense of humour, an amazing woman, so fortunate to meet her, so fortunate to work with her, so fortunate she accepted me as a friend. Sandye is unforgettable, and I look forward to meeting up with her again some time. God bless Sandye. Sincerely, Shaun Boyce. - Posted by: Shaun Boyce (Air Canada employee and friend in Winnipeg 1976-81) on: Aug 31, 2014

  • I am deeply saddened by Sandra's passing. I always enjoyed working with Sandye as she was an excellent flight director and team player. I will never forget how Sandye helped me when we were flying together and I was told that my daughter had passed away in 2004. Sandye's support and understanding in dealing with my situation without any other help truly showed me her incredible caring. I will miss you greatly my friend. May God welcome you into his Kingdom. I am praying that Leanne and Sandye meet in Heaven. - Posted by: Valerie Maguet (Co-Worker) on: Oct 18, 2011

  • It is with great sadness that I just found out of Sandye's passing. Sandye was a friend and a colleague at Air Canada. I always enjoyed working with Sandye - there was lots fun and laughter. I have many wonderful memories but what I remember the most is her gorgeous smile, her upbeat attitude and how much she loved her children and family. My sincere condolences to family and friends. - Posted by: Colette Loslier (Family) on: Oct 17, 2011
