BERTHA EDMONDSON (née GRAULS) Bertha passed away very suddenly at her residence on October 10, 2011. Bertha was born on February 24, 1924 in Winnipeg. She was predeceased by her husband Arthur (to whom she was married for 62 years) in February 2011. She is survived by her son Jim (Brenda), son Glenn (Norine and her daughter Charlotte), and her son Alan (Lori). She is also survived by two grandchildren, Brody (Lindy) and Megan. Bertha held many positions throughout her life, ranging from the general insurance business to a legal secretary, and in later years she worked for the Catholic Women's League. She was also a committed volunteer worker and supported numerous charities. However, Bertha was most proud of her 50 year plus tenure with the Imperial Order of the Daughters of the Empire (IODE). She participated in producing crafts and was heavily involved in fund raising events in support of various groups throughout the city. Bertha was also an avid football fan and held Winnipeg Blue Bomber season tickets with her husband Art for 45 years. After her husband Art's death, Bertha moved to the Sturgeon Creek Retirement Home. She enjoyed meeting new friends, as well as participating in the many activities available for residents. A memorial service will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue on Monday, October 17, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. Flowers are gratefully declined.
