STANLEY GEORGE MEIKLE September 1, 1934 - October 6, 2011 We are celebrating the life of our father, grandfather, brother who now joins his beloved wife Olive, who predeceased him on April 21, 2011. He leaves behind daughters Karen (Marland) Grove, Jayne Percy, Joanne (Ken) Smith, Sally King, and son Glen Meikle (Marcela). Stan was especially proud of his grandchildren whom he adored, Cameron (Mandy) and Jordan Grove, Brittany (Dallas) King, Christian and Janelle and their father Michael Percy, Erica, Adam and Robin Smith, Taylor and Kelsey and their father Mark King; also great-grandchildren, Ayden and Ava Grove. He is remembered by his sister Betty Lewis (Keith), brother Jim Meikle (Brenda), sister-in-law Bonnie Meikle, and numerous family members. Born in Lockwood, SK, moved to Portage La Prairie where he attended P.C.I., was active in baseball, football and played for the Portage Terriers. Stan began his lifelong career with Canada Safeway and was an active member of Kinsmen, Rotary and Probus, where he made lifelong friends. Stan could always be relied upon to support and help those in need. Stan and Ollie spent many happy years raising their family in Portage and Winnipeg before retiring to Victoria, BC, where they continued to make many wonderful friends. Stan and Ollie felt they had a wonderful and interesting life travelling the world, socializing with their friends and being involved in the lives of their children and grandchildren. Mom and Dad were always loving and supportive, excited and proud of each of our achievements and adventures. They will be both sadly missed, and fondly remembered. A private family interment is planned. Friends and family are invited to a celebration barbeque at the home of Jayne Percy, 1049 Mina Avenue, Victoria on Saturday, October 15 at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to a charity of your choice.
