MARY LOU GURAL (nee MATICIO) February 8, 1938 - October 11, 2011 On October 11, 2011 Mary Lou passed away peacefully while surrounded by her loving family. She will be sadly missed by husband Joe, daughter Valerie, sons Alan, Philip and Tony along with other family and friends. Mom loved to cook and bake and was exceptional at both. The family home was often filled with the aroma of her baking and traditional Ukrainian dishes. Her perogies, cabbage rolls and paska were eagerly anticipated at holiday time and her honey cake always made a delicious treat while playing cards or just visiting with friends and family. Cremation and a private family service have taken place as per her wishes. In lieu of flowers, donations to CancerCare Manitoba or to the St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care Unit in her memory would be appreciated. Thank you to Dr. Czaykowski, Denise and all the wonderful staff at CancerCare Manitoba along with the palliative care team and nursing students at St. Boniface General Hospital. Your exceptional care and compassion was greatly appreciated. A special thank you goes to Pastor Stacy for his friendship to Mary Lou and support to her family. God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be. So he put his arms around you and whispered Come with me'. With tearful eyes, we watched you pass away. Although we love you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest, may God hold you lovingly, to us you were the best.
