SOPHIE BERNICE SWEDICK (nee OMICHINSKI) Peacefully on October 10, 2011 at the age of 89 Sophie left this world. She is survived by her daughter Chris (Greg) Paulson, sister Fran Parynuick, brothers Bernie and Reg (Ivy) Omichinski, brother-in-law Rudy (Irene) Schweedic and many nieces and nephews. Sophie was predeceased by her husband Andrew, son Gary, daughter-in-law Helen, brothers Bill, Martin, Anton, Joe, Larry, Aime, and sisters Mary, Kay and Lee. Sophie was born in Ladywood, MB but the family soon moved to Oakville, MB where she was raised on the family farm. As was typical of the time Andrew and Sophie's life involved a lot of hard work and sacrifice. Sophie worked in the sewing industry, Eaton's mail order, M S Meats, and the corner store where all the neighbourhood kids loved Sophie. Sophie brightened the lives of all who met her. Family and especially family suppers were her passion. There were never enough people to eat the wonderful food she prepared. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 18 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church, Munroe and Brazier St. with Visitation prior at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers donations in Sophie's memory may be made to CancerCare Manitoba or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Heaven has a new angel. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044
