MARIE (MADELINE) CHARTRAND (nee MCKAY) Peacefully on Friday, October 14, 2011, at the Lions Prairie Manor, Portage la Prairie, Marie Madeline Chartrand of Portage, widow of the late Fred Chartrand, passed away at the age of 88 years. Madeline was born on March 16, 1923, on the Pine Creek Reserve. She was predeceased by her husband Fred in 1979; her granddaughters, Kathleen in 1989, Jeannie in 2004, Shannon (Cookie) in May of 2011; her grandson Shane, three sons, one daughter, twins in infancy, her parents, brothers and sisters. She leaves to mourn her passing her seven sons, four daughters, 58 grandchildren, 112 great-grandchildren, 18 great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives too numerous to mention. Prayers will be held in the Dakota Tipi Gaming Centre Hall, with prayers taking place at 7:00 p.m. Funeral mass will be held in the Good Shepherd Roman Catholic Church on Tuesday, October 18, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. with the Reverend Father Eric Giddins officiating. The service will terminate at the church followed by cremation, and a family burial of the cremated remains at a later date in the Birchwood Cemetery, Swan River, Manitoba.
