Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARIAN JOAN ARMOUR (nee HIRD) Suddenly on Friday, October 14, 2011, at the St. Boniface Hospital Mom passed away at the age of 80 years. Mom was predeceased by her parents, John and Mary, and her brother Edward Hird. Marian leaves to mourn her beloved husband, Ed, of 54 years; her children, Glen(Tracey), Jacqueline, Nancy (Wes); her grandchildren, Craig, Kenny, Bryce, Kyle, Andrew, Donovan and Gary; as well as her grand-pups, Bobby- Whiskey and Finnegan. Mom was born on December 25, 1930, and grew up in Weston, attending Cecil Rhodes School. Mom was very proud of her Scottish heritage. Celebrations that had turkey or chicken always meant that Scottish dressing would be served: one of Mom's favorites! Thank you Mom for finally sharing your secret recipe for Scottish shortbread; however, no one will ever make it as good as you. Mom was well known as a straight shooter and had a unique way of telling it like it is, no matter the consequence. Underneath it all, her family knew she always had a heart of gold, and that her family was the most important thing to her. Mom was very proud of her children and their accomplishments. Mom worked for Canadian Pacific Railway for many years in the payroll department before her retirement. Mom enjoyed spending time at our lake home on Lee River, where she took pleasure in snowmobiling, hotdog roasts on the lake and boating. She was an avid gardener and bird watcher. Mom also enjoyed baking and spending time with her life partner and true love, Ed. Thank you Mom for taking such wonderful care of Dad. Mom always looked forward to family gatherings and card games that ensued. Two of her favorite card games were Chase the Ace and Hearts. Special thanks to Ed and Kathy for their close friendship of over 30 years, which meant the world to Mom. Dr. J.D. Lezak was a wonderful doctor and his caring and compassion were most appreciated. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba or CancerCare Manitoba. A private family service has been planned with interment at Brookside Cemetery. God saw her getting tired, A cure not meant to be, So He put his arms around her, And whispered...
