Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJESSIE SCHNERCH Peacefully, after a lengthy illness, Jessie Schnerch passed away on Sunday, October 16, 2011 surrounded by a loving family at the age of 88 at Johnson Memorial Hospital, Gimli. Jessie was born in 1923 in Berlo, MB, the youngest of 12 children to Hilko and Marie Lesko. She is predeceased by them all as well as her husband Adam in December 2000 and her daughter, Eleanor Melsted in November 2008. Jessie was raised in Berlo. Her mother passed away when she was 10 years of age and she cared for her ailing father on the family homestead. In 1942 she married Adam Schnerch and they moved to Winnipeg while Adam served overseas in the Armed Forces during the Second World War. After the war they made their home in Camp Morton raising their children, surrounded by family and many special friends. Jessie devoted her life to her family working hard on the family farm. She enjoyed reading, writing poetry, gardening, knitting and crocheting. Her family was her pride and joy and she always treasured visits from family and friends and especially looked forward to family gatherings on special occasions. In 1997 Adam and Jessie retired in Gimli at the Rotary Towers meeting many more dear friends. Jessie had a wonderful sense of humour and was loved by all who knew her. Jessie will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her son Dave (Inger), special cherished son, Patrick (Cathy); her grand-children Karen Rogers, Darrell Melsted (Lori), Kelvin Melsted, David Schnerch (Melanie), Alan Schnerch (Erin) and her great grand-children Noah Rogers, Mitchell Rogers, Donny Melsted, Jordan Melsted, Kirkland Melsted and Tristan Melsted and many special dear relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, October 20, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Michael's Church, Gimli, with Fr. Art Seaman officiating. Interment will follow at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Camp Morton. Thank you to Dr Aljafari, staff at Johnson Memorial Hospital, the Home Care Team of the Interlake Regional Health under the direction of Brenda Krulicki and the residents of Gimli Rotary Towers for your care, support and compassion during Jessie's illness. Special thanks to all the special nieces, and nephews who brought much joy and uplifted Jessie with their many visits. God saw you getting tired When a cure was not to be So He closed His arms around you And whispered come to me. You didn't deserve what you went through So He took you home to rest God's gardens must be beautiful For He only takes the best.

Oh Aunt Jessie, how I loved you so. You were my own personal hero. You always made us feel so welcome and loved - even if to visit then "wasn't a good time". You always kept so current on all things. You always made me laugh. The mischievous gleam in your eye as you were about to say something funny always made my heart happy. Weiners and beans will never taste quite so good again:) Rest in peace our dear aunt! - Posted by: Eileen Lesko (Family) on: Oct 19, 2011
