GORDON GLEN FARNCOMBE Suddenly on Sunday, October 16, 2011 at the Douglas Campbell Lodge, Portage la Prairie, Gordon Glen Farncombe passed away at the age of 85 years. Gordon was predeceased by his wife Jean in 2009, father Archie, mother Margaret and step- mother Marie. Gordon grew up at Bagot, MB and moved to High Bluff in 1945 to run the High Bluff General Store and Post Office. In 1948 he married the former Jean Lytle and together they had three sons. Left to mourn his passing are sons, Craig (Joan), Grant (Heather) and Kevin (Brenda), seven grandchildren and four great-grand-children. Also left to mourn are his only sister Georgina and husband Gerald Large. Gordon and Jean sold the store in High Bluff in August 1979 and moved to Portage la Prairie where he went to work for the Hudson Bay Wholesale for eight years. Upon retiring, Gordon and Jean travelled extensively and he enjoyed curling, fishing and regular card games with the boys. Due to failing health, Gordon was admitted to Douglas Campbell Lodge in January, 2011 where he remained until his passing. At Gordon's request, cremation has taken place and there will be no formal funeral service. A family interment will take place at Hillside Cemetery at a later date.
