ERNEST STEVEN KRAWCHUK It is with deep sorrow that the family announces the sudden passing of Ernie on Saturday, October 15, 2011 at the age of 68 years. Left to forever cherish Ernie's memory is his wife Irene (Walc); sons Greg (Sherry) and Tim; grandsons Cameron and Carson; mother Minnie; brothers Gary (Pam), Barry (Violet) and Brian; sisters Linda and Marlene (Ken); as well as numerous aunts; uncles; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Steve; and his beloved dog April . Ernie was born on July 17, 1943. He grew up on the family farm in Stead, MB and later moved to Winnipeg where he met Irene. They were married on April 19, 1969 in Beausejour, MB. Ernie was an electrical contractor for over 40 years. He enjoyed his work and all the people he came into contact with. He was meticulous at not only his chosen profession but also the numerous projects he willingly did for family and friends. A helping hand was always just a phone call away. As an avid outdoorsman, Ernie thoroughly enjoyed hunting, trapping, fishing and spending time out at the farm. He shared his love of these activities with his sons and most recently cherished the fishing trips he took with his eldest grandson Cameron. Grandpa Ernie was very proud of his grandsons and took great pleasure in watching Cam at his hockey, soccer and baseball games. Carson's eagerness to be his little helper always brought a smile to his face. For the last few years, Sunday's were always reserved for Ernie to visit with his mom at East Gate Lodge in Beausejour. He always made sure she was well cared for. On Friday, October 21, 2011 a Celebration of Ernie's Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of Memories in Wojcik's Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main Street at Manitoba Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ernie's memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, Suite 200 - 6 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6.
