Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryETHEL JEAN LLOYD The long and wonderful journey of a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great- grandmother came to a peaceful end in the early afternoon on October 13, 2011. Known to everyone as Jean, she was born September 24, 1917, at Brandon, the youngest of seven children of George Porterfield Sr. and Clara Peters. Jean spent her formative years at Brandon, moving in 1938 to Winnipeg where she was married to Dennis Lloyd on July 21, 1940. This union was blessed with four children, who along with their parents spent years enjoying the cottage at Betula Lake. The family cottage is now being enjoyed by the fourth generation of Lloyds. Apart from working alongside her husband in the family business, Jean made numerous friends as she curled, played bridge and golfed. She was a longtime charter member of Breezy Bend, where at age 90, she golfed with three grandsons. Only recently she talked about the 'hole in one' she scored on October 9, 1974. Jean also enjoyed her 37 year membership at Deer Lodge Curling Club. Sadly, all these activities came to an abrupt end a couple of years ago, and Jean was forced to leave her home and take up residence at Tuxedo Villa. At the Villa, she remained active, playing bridge, and taking part in many other activities. Jean was a faithful member of Sturgeon Creek United Church for more than 50 years. She will be sadly missed by her children, David (Roberta) Lloyd, Cobble Hill, BC; Maxine (Keith) Fraser, Bath, Ontario; Barbara (Don) Lloyd, Winnipeg; and Thomas (Linda) Lloyd, Melbourne, Australia; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and her 96 year old sister, Georgia Jones, Winnipeg. Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Denny, in 1983; and a grandson, James Lloyd in 2001. The family wishes to thank the staff at Tuxedo Villa for their kindness and compassion in caring for our Mother and Grandmother during her extended stay at the Villa. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 24, 2011, from Sturgeon Creek United Church (207 Thompson Drive) with Pastor Jeri Bjornson officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Alzheimer Society or the Epilepsy Seizure Association. Condolences may be shared at www.JeanLloyd.blogspot.com Thomson In the Park 925-1120 Condolences may be sent to www.thomsoninthepark.com
