GERMAINE VAN BRAECKEL Peacefully, on Sunday, October 16, 2011, Germaine Van Braeckel passed away at her residence, at the age of 81 years. Mom was predeceased by her husband Joe and is lovingly remembered by her children: Margaret, Denise (John), Annie, Rene, David; grandchildren: Kathleen, Patricia (Joe), Sara, Mathew, Celina, Sandra, Amanda, Joey and their mother Valerie; great-grandchildren: Samantha, James, Cory, Raymond, Donovan, Kevin, Rachel-Joy, Riley; as well as nieces, nephews and cousins. Mom was born and raised in Winnipeg. While visiting in Cypress River, she met her true love Joe and after their marriage she moved to the farm and became a farmer's wife (taking on the all the duties that were required) and a homemaker. It's rumoured that she made the best homemade bread and buns. In 1962, the family moved back to Winnipeg. Mom's family was very important to her and she centered her life around them. In later years she struggled through several health issues. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 26 at 1:00 p.m. in the Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald St. The Coutu family in care of arrangements: E. J. COUTU CO.
