MOIRA BURTON January 29, 1937 - October 16, 2011 On Sunday, October 16, 2011, Moira died at Riverview Health Centre at the age of 74 years. In her final days she was surrounded by family and close friends. Left to forever cherish Moira's memory are her sister Winnifred; two daughters, Leslie and Melissa; four grandchildren, Euan, Beau, Cael, and Carleigh; as well as by two great-grand-children, Jude and Emme. She was preceded in death by her husband William Burton, September 26, 2010. Moira was born in Glasgow, Scotland to Mary and Thomas Guthrie. She had strength of will that will be remembered by all who loved and knew her. Her perseverance was beyond measure. Moira lost her sight in the last decade of her life, yet was driven to remain independent and became exceptional at new skills and hobbies, ranging from pottery to navigating Windows Seven. She donated her time and effort to the Canadian Council for the Blind (CCB) and was a staunch advocate for the blind, especially those in need.
