BARRY THOMAS HANSELL March 13, 1945 - October 17, 2011 A great life was lived by Barry Thomas Hansell. Unexpectedly on October 17, 2011 he passed away at the age of 66. He had a fun loving life and leaves Diana, his wife of 41 years; son Jeff daughter-in-law Shannon, grandsons Brad, and Ryan; daughter Nadine and son-in-law Rick. Also left to remember Barry are his brother Ricky (Kathy), sister Patty (Kevin), sisters-in-law Joyce and Bev; many loving nieces and nephews, family and friends. Barry has now joined his parents Charlie and Marg, brothers Brian and Jim, mother and father-in-law Lena and Paul Nykoluk, brothers-in-law Jack and Richard. Barry's journey started on March 13, 1945 in St. Boniface, MB. He was the second of five children, maintaining an extremely close relationship with siblings his entire life. Their diplomatic brother learned at an early age how to work hard. His strong work ethics were taught to him by his parents, which he then passed on to his children. From his first job of sweeping floors, to becoming his own boss doing machinery maintenance in the packing house industry. All of this while working together with his wife and children establishing and operating the family farm and business. Colleagues have described Barry as a very unique gentleman and a well respected business man, who made friends wherever he went. Although if you had asked him, he would have told you he never really had a job! In 1970 Barry married the love of his life, Diana. They started their lives together on Dugald Road where many good times and memories were made. In 1973 their son Jeff was born. In 1975 they moved to Beausejour and their daughter Nadine was born in 1978. Family life began and Barry took great pride in teaching his children while watching them grow. Dad was extremely proud of the adults they have become and would convey this to all. The family continued to grow adding a daughter-in-law and a son-in-law whom he treated as his own. Barry's second childhood began when his two grandsons Brad and Ryan were born. They were always so very special to Grandpa. Barry had many joys in life, sharing them with all of us brought him the MOST joy. He never stopped smiling, working, or joking around with everyone. While sharing a conversation with him, whether you were his niece, nephew, friend or complete stranger, he had a way of making you know he was listening, and that he genuinely cared. Community was important to Barry. He and Diana were highly involved with many organizations; never afraid of giving an opinion or volunteering their time. Spending time with family; be it at home or on many adventures near and far... these are the memories we hold closest. Our loved one, with his magnetic personality and kind soft heart, will be so greatly missed. We know he is waiting to dance with his Babe and hold her hand once more. Please join us on Monday, October 24, 2011 at 1:00 p.m., a traditional funeral service will be held at the Wheeler Funeral Chapel.
