MARIA FRANCESIA GIOVANNA (JEAN) BUCCINI (nee FABBRI) February 20, 1918 - October 19, 2011 Jean, our Nonna , passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 93 at the Grace Hospice. Jean was born in Winnipeg the daughter of Iacopo and Bartolomea Fabbri and was a long time East Kildonan resident who worked in her early years in the family business, Fabbri's lunch, located on Henderson Highway. She married Don Buccini, a barber, who predeceased her in 1975. They raised their family and lived for many years on Washington Avenue. Jean spent her summer months at the family cottage in Grand Beach where she enjoyed spending time with her family at the beach, fishing or playing cards. Jean loved to garden and the family benefited with many bountiful harvests. She loved to work with her hands and enjoyed doing household projects to make her home a better place In 2008 Jean moved to the Westhaven senior's residence and enjoyed her sunset years living like a queen and playing cards and games with the residents. The family would like to thank the staff and residents of the Westhaven for taking her into your lives and hearts and providing her with a wonderful home. Jean was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who took great pride in her family members. They were her passion and she spent her life nurturing and caring for them. She put all her time and effort into ensuring her children were raised with a strong value system, received as much education as possible and were provided with a loving home to grow up in. She was a friend to many people and will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Nonna will always be remembered as a strong and gentle woman who cared deeply about her family and friends. Nonna you are in our hearts and in our thoughts, we will miss you and love you forever. Jean is survived and will be greatly missed by her children Donald (Ellen), John (Carole) of Ottawa, ON, Evelyn (Allan) Gogush, Maria (Don) Gallinger and Paul (Debbie) of Calgary, AB; her 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She is survived by her sister Blanche Zastre of Vancouver BC, her sister-in-law Dot Fabbri and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings Bert, Aghi, Margherita and Evelyn. The family extends our sincere thanks to the staff at the St. Boniface Hospital, the Riverview Health Centre and the Grace Hospice. Your care and compassion were greatly appreciated during our mother's illness.
