GORDON H. TAYLOR 1938 - 2011 It is with the great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Gord on Saturday, October 22, 2011, at Riverview Health Centre. Remaining to forever cherish Gord's memory are his loving wife of 41 years, Marlene; sons, Ron and Brad (Yvonne) of Calgary; sisters, Shirley Young of Regina; Geraldine (Walter) Becker of Emerson; Dorothea (Walter) Schultz of Winnipeg; and brother-in-law, Al Hamm of Campbell River, BC. He was also a special and favourite uncle to all his nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. Gord was born in Regina and came to Winnipeg in 1959. He worked as a driving instructor and then as a driving examiner for the province of Manitoba. He then sold real estate for many years until his first heart attack in 1984. Gord loved the challenge of finding the right house for his clients. He battled and won over many forms of cancer, until finally lung cancer took him from us. Gord was actively involved in his church serving two terms on church council and organizing the Men's Easter Breakfast for over twelve years. He was also known as the "coffee man" at church, helping with the coffee fellowship after services. On Thursday, October 27, 2011, Gord's Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. in the Messiah Lutheran Church, 400 Rouge Road with Pastor Carol Janke officiating. The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Mike, Dr. Rubin and all the special nurses on 3E at Riverview Health Centre for their care shown to Gord, his wife and his sister, Dorothea during his stay. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gord's name to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3E 0V9 or the Messiah Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 400 Rouge Road, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3K 1K3.
