Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLAURA ELLEN GOETZ (nee LENTON) April 16, 1927 October 19, 2011 Peacefully, at the Morris General Hospital, on October 19, 2011, Laura passed away at the age of 84 years. Predeceased by her beloved husband Gordon in 2007, brothers Henry and Tom Lenton, and sister Edith Ward. She is survived by one sister Rita Lindsay of Morris, and several nieces and nephews. Laura was born at Ridgeville, and lived most of her life in that community, until moving to Emerson in 1982. She worked for many years at Tanchak's General Store in Ridgeville. Later she was employed as a clerk-receptionist by Agriculture Canada in Emerson. She retired from that position in 1992. Laura was a gifted musician, playing both the piano and organ. She was a lifetime member of St. Mary's Anglican Church in Ridgeville, and played the organ for church services for many years. Her musical performances were the highlight of family and community get-togethers. What fun we had! She took an active part in her community, and was a long-time member of Ridgeville Women's Institute. Laura was an avid gardener, and created beautiful park-like gardens wherever she lived. Her yard was always groomed to perfection. Laura was a cherished member of our family, and will be sadly missed. She and Gordon shared a special relationship throughout their 57 years of marriage. Laura valued her independence, and was determined to remain in her own home as long as possible. A heartfelt thank you to those special people who made it possible for Laura to realize her wish. Cremation has taken place, and the interment service will be held at the Emerson Cemetery on Wednesday, October 26 at 1:00 p.m. The memorial service to celebrate Laura's life will follow at 2:00 p.m. at St. Andrew's United Church in Emerson. Donations in Laura's memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, Box 119, Winkler, MB R6W 4A4, or a charity of your choice.
