GORDON PLOUFFE January 20, 1949 - October 21, 2011 Suddenly and unexpectedly on Friday, October 21, 2011 Gordon passed away at the age of 62. Leaving behind to remember him are his parents, Isabel and Ted Plouffe, his loving wife of 34 years, Judy Kovalik, and his beloved children: son Jeffrey Kovalik-Plouffe and daughter Julia Kovalik-Plouffe (Ryan Kovacs), as well as his cherished dogs Sahara and Morgan. Gord is also survived by his uncles David and Gordon Kerr, brothers-in-law Les Kovalik (Lorraine Godin), Bob (Kim) Kovalik of Medicine Hat, AB, and Les Richardson of Montreal, PQ; sister-in-law Linda (Lindsay) Watson; his nephews David Watson, Chris Kovalik (Joanne Cullerton) of Calgary, AB, and Ken Richardson of Montreal, PQ; nieces Liz Watson (Dan Joanisse) and Barbara Richardson of Montreal, PQ; cousins Terry (Val) Moore and Wendy (Les) Heinrichs, and many more cousins, great-nieces and nephews. Gord was predeceased by his sister Karen Richardson, in-laws Tony and Betty Kovalik and several other family members. He was born on his Uncle Gordon's wedding day, January 20, 1949, and his mother thought naming him after his uncle would be a special tribute. Along with his parents and older sister Karen, he moved to Montreal when he was a baby and spent his childhood and adolescent years there. After his father retired in 1975, Gord moved back to Winnipeg. This is where he literally met the girl next door and the love of his life, Judy. They married on September 3, 1977, and started their life and family together. Their son Jeff was born in 1982 and three years later, in 1985, their daughter Julia was born. Gord worked the majority of his life in the floral sales industry being employed by Unique Trading, Florist Supply, David L. Jones and most recently with Petals West. He will be missed greatly by his family and everyone that knew him, particularly for his great sense of humour, love of music and sports and the soft spot he had in his heart for animals of all kind. The family would like to thank the first responders who quickly came to try to help and the staff at the St. Boniface Hospital for their compassion. A special thank you goes to all the family and friends for their kind words, thoughts and help over the past few days. This has brought some joy into the sadness we are all feeling. A celebration of Gord's life will be held on Friday, October 28, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his honour to The Winnipeg Pet Rescue Shelter, D'Arcy's A.R.C. or purchase peanuts to feed the squirrels in your neighbourhood. Gordon, Dad we hope that you are resting in peace, sweet dreams. We will always love you and will miss you beyond words. You will be in our hearts forever. All our love Judy, Jeff, Julia, Ryan, Sahara and Morgan...xoxoxo
