Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEDITH JEAN DYKER (nee ROBINSON) June 13, 1916 - October 21, 2011 Edith Dyker died peacefully in her sleep at Poseidon Care Facility Friday, October 21 2011. Edith was born in Lang, Saskatchewan, beloved daughter and ninth child born to Rev. and Mrs. George David Robinson (Elsie Lake). Predeceased by her eight siblings Irene Hayter (Dr. Frank Hayter, Paul (Lena), Mac (Mae), Dr. Lesley (Flora and Betty), Olive Knox (Harold), Hazel McDougall (Bill), Margaret, and Dahl (Marian). Also her loving and doting husbands, Captain James Moon and William Lyle Dyker. Edith leaves to mourn her passing her two daughters, Heather Martin (Moon) and Beverly Fletcher (Moon) and stepdaughter Dorothy Dyker and stepgrandson Andrew of Calgary. Also, grandchildren Patrick Martin (Nadine), Tracey Martin-Hook (Cory), Dr. Genny Martin (Gordon Ruff), Sean Martin (Heather), Carrie Guilbault (Marc), Darcy Hildebrand (Michael), Edee Fraser (Lorne) and Holly Robertson (Cameron) (Bev). Her great grandchildren will miss their Granna - Jordan Fletcher (Becky) and Abby Fraser, Jessica and Sarah Hildebrand, Kellen and Justin Guilbault, Maya Grace, Emma and Owen Robertson (Bev) and Lauren and Michael. Edith was educated in Ontario and Manitoba and taught school for almost a quarter of a century. This included 16 years in Special Ed. She was much loved and appreciated by her students. She continued her education while teaching, achieving her Masters of Education in 1972. Edith was a member of The Retired Teachers' Association of Manitoba, University Women's Club and St. Charles Country Club where she could be found a few times a week during the summer after learning to golf at age 62. She was an avid bridge player, loved to read good novels, and loved social events as well as theatre productions. She doted on her grandchildren whom she adored, and spent much time with them all. The adoration was mutual. Edith and Lyle enjoyed wintering for 20 years in Sarasota, FL where they made many friends. Summer weekends were enjoyed at their Nutimik Lake cottage. Edith and Jim had a long association with Westworth United Church beginning in 1954. Later Edith and Lyle attended at St. Andrews River Heights United Church, but mom returned to Westworth after Lyle passed away. She enjoyed her later retirement years at The Wellington where she had many friends and enjoyed all the activities. The family wishes to thank the staff at Poseidon Care Facility for their care and compassion. The funeral service will be held at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. Saturday, October 29 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Clark Saunders officiating.
