BURTON FRANK WATERS May 13, 1939 - October 26, 2011 Peacefully, on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at Grace Hospital, after a brief battle with leukemia, Burt, aged 72 years, beloved husband of Judy and father of Tannis and Todd passed away. Burt was born in Winnipeg on May 13, 1939 and with the exception of a few years in Regina, SK, lived his whole life in Winnipeg. Burt and Judy were married in December, 1965 and enjoyed a rich and wonderful life together. A graduate of the Faculty of Agriculture at the University of Manitoba, Burt was employed in various aspects of agriculture during his career, retiring as the Manager of the Manitoba Turkey Producer's Marketing Board in December, 1999. Burt was a dedicated Officer of the Royal Winnipeg Rifles for many years, retiring as the Commanding Officer in 1988. In 1994 he was appointed an Aide-de-Camp to the Lieutenant Governor of Manitoba and was very proud to serve this Office for the past 17 years. Burt will be especially remembered for his deep love of family and his enjoyment of his many friends. He was a proud and active member of the Royal Winnipeg Rifles Regimental Senate, the Men's Club of St. Andrew's Church, and the Commissionaires of Manitoba. Burt is survived by his wife of almost 46 years, Judy, his daughter, Tannis Harrison (Shawn) of Comox, BC, his son Todd (April) of Winnipeg and four grandchildren, Marley and Zoe Harrison, Benjamin and Nicholas Waters. He is also survived by his sister June Francis of Winnipeg. Burt was predeceased by his parents, Milton and Thelma Waters. A service celebrating Burt's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at St. Andrew's Anglican Church, 2700 Portage Ave. with Rev. Ian Mills officiating. Flowers are gratefully declined but if friends so desire, donations may be made in memory of Burt to CancerCare Manitoba (Leukemia Research), 1160-675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9 or St. Andrew's Anglican Church.
