Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEVELYN RUTH RYRIE January 14, 1924 - October 21, 2011 Our mother passed peacefully, with family at her side, on October 21, 2011 at Lions Prairie Manor in Portage la Prairie. Evelyn Ryrie was born to Ruth and Arthur Ambler in Pathlow, SK. She came to Elm Creek in 1946 and married Alex (Sandy) Ryrie in 1949. They farmed in the Wingham District for 52 years. She was predeceased by her husband in 2005 and by her three brothers and sister - Dave, Jimmy and Mervyn, and Kay. Left to forever cherish her memory are her beloved children: Allan Ryrie of Elm Creek and Eleanor Ryrie of Vancouver, BC; brothers: Gordon Ambler, Melfort, SK and Tom (Virginia), Clinton, BC; sisters: Eileen Foster, Dorothy (Slim) Bernard, both of Kelowna, BC, Eleanor Prete, Calgary AB and Marjorie (Don) Cameron, Cochrane, AB, plus many nieces and nephews. Evelyn's main interest was her family. She loved farm life where she was active in every aspect. Interests included her flower gardens, politics and current events. She actively supported local community events including her children in 4-H and church related activities. Evelyn returned to school later in life to fulfill her dream of becoming a registered nurse in 1976. Her children remember her as a dedicated mother who was a compassionate, hardworking and determined person with an unconditional, loving heart. Her family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at the Lions Prairie Manor who cared for her with kindness and compassion over the last year. We also wish to thank our Aunt Eleanor for her loving care and support. On October 29, a private service will be held at Doyle's Funeral Home in Carman, MB with interment at the family plot near Elm Creek. A lunch will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the Elm Creek Community Hall and we invite all friends from the community to attend. The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to St. Andrews United Church, Elm Creek, Manitoba, R0G 0N0.
