Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryAGNES MCNAIR JACQUES (nee WHITEHILL) It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our dear mother. A quiet woman with a capacity for deep love, Agnes passed away on October 21, 2011 with all seven of her children at her side. Agnes, or Scotty as she was known to her husband's family, was born April 2, 1924, the second daughter of John and Elizabeth Whitehill. Mom grew up in Fort Rouge. A tomboy in her youth, she loved to play baseball and bike ride. Until recently Mom loved to go out for lunch or dinner with family. She enjoyed music, a good laugh, crossword puzzles and loved reading when her eyesight allowed her to. Mom married our Dad in June of 1946. Together they raised their children in St. Boniface with Mom the homemaker, always being there for us when we arrived home from school on those blustery, winter days or worrying about us when we weren't home on time. Mom spent her entire life in Winnipeg, living on Kavanagh Street for 60 years. Although she enjoyed lengthy visits to her daughters on the West Coast, she could never leave Winnipeg. Mom will be missed and lovingly remembered by her children and their spouses: Brian and Heather, Rick and Shirley, Barb and Gary Miller, Judy and Paddy McConville, Patti and Don Lambert, Doug and Maureen, and Frank and Nadine, as well as her grandchildren: Sharleen (Craig), Cheryl (Jeff) and Shannon; Kristi and Cory; Lee (Tarah), Kevin (Megan) and Scott; Chris (Marlo) and Trevor; Ivan and Jesse (Crystal); Paul (Marnie), Krystal (Matt) and Kyle; Tiffany and Cody, and her six great-grandchildren, Annabelle and Austin, Alyssa, Kiana, and Lexi, and Julia. Agnes leaves to mourn, her sister and best friend, Margaret Charles, sisters-in-law Jen Fardy, Dorothy Bissett and Veronica Jacques, brother-in-law Ron Jacques as well as numerous nephews and nieces. Mom was predeceased by our dad Jack in January 2002, and her brothers Jack, Peter and Jim Whitehill. We would like to thank Dr. Sarah Kredentser for her care and patience over the years and Dr. Joanna Colledge for her compassion in Mom's last days. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to C.N.I.B., 1080 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3G 3M3. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 5 at 1:00 p.m. in the Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald Street. The Coutu family in care of arrangements: E. J. COUTU CO.
