VIRGINIA (JANE) CUMMING (nee WATT) On October 27, 2011, our family lost our brightest star. Jane passed away peacefully at the age of 63 after a year long struggle with cancer. Jane was a devoted daughter, sister, mother and Grandma. Jane is survived by her two children, Tracy Cumming (Andrew) and Gord Cumming of Edmonton; two grandsons, Andrew and Shawn Gray of Edmonton; siblings, Shirley Muloin, Peter Watt (Margaret), Gail MacDonald, Dawn Warner (Ron); and Aunt Winnie Green, all of Winnipeg and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Predeceased by her parents, Peter (in 1982) and Nellie Watt (in 1987); and her twin sons, Jeffery and Jason Cumming in 1975. Jane was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and moved to Edmonton in 1984 where she lived life to the fullest. Mom, you're our guardian angel, you were there for all of us through the years. Words cannot express how much you are loved and will be missed in all our lives. We know you were so strong and we know you had to go. Everyone who loved you is comforted that you are in God's caring arms and you are free from your illness. You will forever be remembered in our hearts for your loving, gentle and fun ways. Find your Hawaiian beach in heaven and dance the days away until we meet again. Special thanks to Dr. Ross Lindskoog, Dr. Quincy Chu and the staff at the Cross Cancer Institute and the staff at St. Joseph's Auxiliary Hospital for the amazing care you provided for Jane. A celebration of Jane's life will be held on Friday, November 4, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Southminster-Steinhauer United Church, 10740 - 19 Ave., Edmonton, AB T6J 6W9. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jane's name to The Youth Emergency Shelter Society, 9310 - 82 Ave., Edmonton, AB T6C 0Z6, www.yess.org or to a charity of one's choice. Cremation has taken place.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • I am so sorry, I did not know that your Mom died and I would like to send the family my most sincere condolences. Your Mom and I lost contact over the years but our mutual friend Bonnie Buchanan (Warner) kept me up to date until she died in July of 2011. I have never forgotten Jane's beautiful smile nor her wonderful nature and I am so happy to read about her wonderful, loving family life. We were two St. James teenagers with long dark hair...giggling about boys, having sleepovers and eating fries at Grannies Kitchen... what fun we had! I'll see you in the stars Jane! - Posted by: Michelle O'Donnell (Micki Nairne) (St. James school chums ) on: Aug 28, 2012
