JAMES (JIMMY) RONALD SWAFFER Jim passed away peacefully on October 24, 2011 in Winnipeg. Jim was predeceased by his parents, Ronald and Maureen, sister Gail, brother-in-law John and his grandparents. Jim was born on June 16, 1966. He was raised in East Kildonan (Morse Place) where he enjoyed community club sports, bowling and curling. He attended Salisbury Elementary School, Morse Place Junior High, graduating from Miles Macdonell Collegiate. Jim enjoyed watching the Winnipeg Jets. When the original Jets left he turned his support to the Manitoba Moose. He could be seen at all the Moose games drinking his two cups of tea in his official hockey jerseys. His life changed again when the Jets returned to Winnipeg. His greatest enjoyment was being able to go to the first Jets game at the MTS Centre, proudly wearing his new Jets jersey. Jim will be lovingly remembered by his aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. A memorial service in Jim's honour will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street West St. Paul, with interment to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Thank you to all the special people who supported Jim in his good times and his very difficult times. Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • I was in Sea Cadets back in the 80's with Jim (and Chuck) as well. I remember Jim as someone who never let himself get down: he always kept trying. He had a great sense of humour. I had a great time hanging with him on Sundays at Sals after band practice and at HMCS Quadra while on course. I was hoping to see him at JTCVC'c 100th anniversary in 2020: it won't be quite the same without him. I never could keep in step with you, dude. You were one of the best. - Posted by: Brian Horky (Friend) on: Mar 23, 2018

  • I found out today. I am so glad the last time I saw you, I hugged you, kissed you, looked into your beautiful blue eyes and told you I loved you. - Posted by: Lisa (Friend) on: Nov 23, 2013

  • Jim and I were friends. Back in the 80's we were percussionist in the John Travers Cornwell Victoria Cross Sea Cadet Corp Band together. I remember Quadra, Hawkeye's cabin in the winter, hanging out after cadets on Sundays, cruisin' around in your "Swaffer Mobile". Wish I would've kept in contact with you more. I'll miss ya buddy. CHEERS!! Look up my mom & dad up in heaven bro, I'm sure they'd love to see you. - Posted by: Charles Payment (Long time friend) on: Aug 23, 2013
