THERESA WINGROVE August 8, 1915 - October 21, 2011 Peacefully on October 21, 2011, Tess, age 96 years, passed away at Riverview Health Centre. Tess was predeceased by her husband Gordon, parents Alice and Tom Smith, sister Mary, and granddaughter Teri. Mom is lovingly remembered by her son, Tom, daughter-in-law Linda, granddaughter Christy, and sister Lilian Colpitts and family. Mom was born in Winnipeg and grew up in the Weston area. She worked for many years at Sherwin Williams Paints but best enjoyed her years running the canteen at the Red Cross. After her husband Gordon passed away in 1976, she spent many years living with her sister Lil and her husband Al in Vancouver but once the grandchildren arrived, she moved back to Winnipeg. Tess and Lil were sisters but also best friends and supported each other. They lived together for many years after Lil's husband Al passed away. Tess was very active and enjoyed being with people and a large part of her time was spent with friends at bingo, visits to the Casino, card games or bowling. But her greatest love was her family. Mom frequently took care of her granddaughters when they were growing up, be it watching them when mom and dad were at work or driving them to appointments and activities. She could always be counted on to help. She was in good health well into her 90s and finally had to be encouraged to stop driving her car at 91. Mom had a fall in early 2010 and broke her hip and wrist. That spelled the end of independent living. The last 21 months she resided at Deer Lodge Hospital, Misericordia Health Centre and finally Riverview Health Centre. We would like to thank all of the staff at these facilities but especially the staff at CD4 at Riverview for the care and compassion shown to Mom. Cremation has taken place. A private gathering will be held for family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cystic Fibrosis Canada, P.O. 21008 RPO Charleswood, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3R 3R2 or the charity of your choice. Rest in peace Mom. We love you and miss you. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website. Chapel Lawn www.chapellawn.mb.ca 885-9715
