JOHN HARRY (JACK) BROWN 1915 - 2011 The family would like to announce the passing of Jack Brown on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at the age of 96. Jack was predeceased by his beloved wife of 57 years Margery Brown, as well as his parents, brothers and sister. Left to cherish his memory are his two daughters Heather and Pamela (Terry), granddaughter Alicia and sister-in-law Jessica Groundwater. Dad was born in London, England. He joined the British Army then transferred to the Royal Air Force (RAF) in 1938, then came to Canada in February of 1942 as part of the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan. Dad met our mother at a Valentine's Day party and she knew that she wouldn't date him because he was too short! They married in June of 1943. He worked for TCA (Trans-Canada Air Lines), which then became Air Canada, in the Engine Shop as part of their maintenance crew. Dad also worked as a relief projectionist in the theatres in Winnipeg and when he retired from Air Canada, he became the full time projectionist at the Winnipeg Convention Centre. In his spare time, Dad was a hobby photographer and was involved with 177 Air Canada Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron for many years. The family would like to send a very special thank you to Sturgeon Creek Retirement Residence and Deer Lodge 2 East for their kindness and compassionate care. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at St. Andrew's Anglican Church, 2700 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, MB at 2:00 p.m. Following the service interment will take place at Chapel Lawn. Reception to follow at St. Andrew's Anglican Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society.
