Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHELEN IRENE MURRAY (nee ROTONDO) Peacefully on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 Helen, loving wife of Malcolm and mother of Allan passed away at the Concordia Hospital. She was surrounded with love by her family, sadly she was just shy of her 83rd birthday. Helen was born at her family home in Transcona, MB on November 1, 1928. This is the same home she lived in virtually all her life choosing to raise her son Allan there. Prior to leaving the workforce to raise her son in 1968 she was employed at The Ryan Agency and Canadian National Railway. Once her son was old enough she chose to return to the workforce on a temporary basis working for Manpower Temporary Services, Kelly Services and filling in on an annual basis at Manitoba Heavy Construction Association for many years. Prior to getting married Helen was an avid golfer and was member of the Transcona Golf Club, along with her brothers. She also loved to watch things grow, therefore taking after her father she spent many hours working in the garden each year. Later on she joined the Transcona Legion Branch #7 with her husband. They enjoyed playing darts in the Wednesday evening darts league, she continued this for over 25 years. It was an outing she looked forward to each week. Spending time with family was very important to her. She spent many enjoyable summers at Falcon Lake with her son Allan, husband Malcolm, with her sister Margaret and her nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Malcolm, parents Carmine and Frances Rotondo, sisters Mattea and Margaret Murphy, brothers Tony and Domenic. Left to mourn are her son Allan and her many nieces and nephews. Prayers will be held on Sunday, October 30, 2011 in the Wheeler Funeral Chapel, 211 Regent Avenue West at 7:00 p.m. A funeral Mass will take place Monday, October 31, 2011 1:00 p.m. at Blessed Sacrament Church, 710 Roanoke St. with interment to follow at Transcona Cemetery, 5014 Dugald Rd. A special thank you to Dr. Caners, and the nurses and the support staff of Concordia Hospital for their care and compassion.
